BHS leads, then loses

The Bayfield High School girls basketball season ended in the second half.

The Wolverines, giving up 19 seeds to their opponent, gave up a two-point halftime lead and lost to Trinidad 41-31 in Round 1 of the CHSAA Class 3A Girls Basketball State Championships on Friday night in Trinidad.

No. 26 Bayfield (10-13) led 16-14 at the halfway mark, then trailed by four, 26-22, to end the third quarter.

Then, No. 7 Trinidad pulled away.

Destini McGhehey scored 14 to lead BHS, including a 6-for-7 night from the free throw line.
