’Hawks win at home away from home

FLC lacrosse picks up a big win in Alamosa

The Skyhawks got a big win at a home away from home.

In what was supposed to be its home opener, the Fort Lewis College women’s lacrosse team routed McKendree University 17-2 in Alamosa, where the game was moved because of snowpack on FLC’s Ray Dennison Memorial Field.

“Everything came together,” FLC head coach Kelsey MacDonald said. “We played as a team; I think that’s what stood out to me (Tuesday).”

Kathryn Dunn, Jam Vertner and Kylie Smith each scored hat tricks for the Skyhawks, and Jessica Norby added two goals and three assists.

In the FLC (4-3, 2-1 WILA) goal, Durango High School alumna Alyssa Spencer saved five of seven shots – all of the saves in the second half.
