Spiritual training talk to take place March 24

The Christian Science Church of Durango will host two free events by speaker Josh Niles of Boise, Idaho, on March 24 in the Eolus Room of the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.:

A talk, “Spiritual Training: Learning to Listen,” will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Child care will be provided.

A youth walk and talk called “Waking up to Spiritual Reality” will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Pine Valley Church adds worship service

Beginning Sunday, Pine Valley Church, 1328 County Road 501 in Bayfield, will grow to two worship services, at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Each service will include child care and Kid’s Church. The services include expressive worship, God’s Word and offer individual prayer time. Also, the youth group is raising funds for a mission trip by offering breakfast items.

Passion of Christ to be screened

The Catholic parishes of Archuleta County will sponsor a free screening of “The Passion of the Christ” at 7 p.m. March 27 at the Liberty Theater, 418 Pagosa St. in Pagosa Springs.

Service-schedule information requested

The Durango Herald will run schedules for Holy Week and Easter church services.

The first schedule will run March 23 and will include services taking place from Palm Sunday through Good Friday.

The second schedule will run March 30 and will include Easter-weekend services.

Information should be submitted by Thursday for the schedule to run March 23 and by March 28 for the schedule to run March 30.

Har Shalom to host Passover Seder

Congregation Har Shalom will host a community Passover Seder led by Rabbi Eliot Baskin on March 25 in the Durango Elks Lodge ballroom, 901 East Second Ave.

Appetizers will be served at 5:30 p.m. The seder will begin at 6 p.m. Appetizers, a buffet-style dinner, dessert and beverages will be catered.

The cost for members who make reservations through Thursday is $45 for adults and $15 for children. The cost for non-members who make reservations through Thursday is $53 for adults and $17 for children and $25 for college students. St. Paul’s to host family Sunday school

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2611 Junction St., will host the monthly Family Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. March 24.

The theme will be “Welcoming Jesus!” Parents are encouraged to stay with their children for the lesson, songs and activities.
