The defending Mountain League champions are on the board.
The Durango High School girls lacrosse team rebounded from a pair of losses last weekend to roll past Eagle Valley 10-1 on Friday in Gypsum.
Hannah Quick paced the offense with four goals on seven shots. Alyssa Montoya had a pair of tallies and three assists, while Tymbree Hawkins had a goal and three assists. Samantha Jones, Haley Dallas and Angela Grogan also scored for the Demons (1-2).
“I really like that everyone’s getting involved, and we don’t have just one threat,” Demons head coach Jenni Darlow said. “I love that we had six assists.”
Defensively, the Demons were stout, allowing just nine shots on goal. McKenna Rigdon made eight saves in net for the Demons.
“Our defense did a great job as a unit of really doing what we asked them to do,” Darlow said. “Slowing down the ball before it gets to the goal, slowing down the attacker with your body.”
Darlow also was pleased with Durango’s draw controls and groundballs.
