Two Durango library branches to be closed
The Fort Lewis Mesa and Sunnyside branches of Durango Public Library will be closed from April 8 to 11 in conjunction with Durango School District 9-R spring break.
The branches will reopen at 2 p.m. April 15.

Area Republican women schedule meeting April 16
Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, will be the featured speaker at the Southwest Republican Women’s luncheon at noon April 16 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
Men also are welcome.

American Rose society slates April 13 for meeting
Judges from the American Rose Society will present information covering varieties, soil preparation and fertilization to members and their guests at the society’s meeting April 13 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building, 2500 Main Ave.
A light lunch will be served at 12:45 p.m. followed by the program at 1 p.m. Jack and Juanita Ortega of Santa Fe will share their expertise. An overview of rose types including hybrid teas and grandifloras, single bushes, shrubs and minifloras will be included.

Chili dinner planned to benefit senior center
The Pine River Seniors will host their annual spring chili dinner fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. April 14 at the Pine River Senior Center, 111 South West St. in Bayfield.
The cost is $5 per person which includes a bowl of chili, fixings, drink and dessert. All proceeds will benefit the Pine River Senior Center in Bayfield.
Divorce, custody consultations available
The Women’s Resource Center will offer low-cost, one-on-one consultations with lawyer Sari Benmeier for women who plan to file their own paperwork for divorce or custody actions.
The next appointments are available April 15. The deadline to make an appointment is noon April 12. The cost is $5 per hour per client. To participate, clients must first attend the pro-se divorce clinic offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. Clients also must sign a waiver and pay the $5 fee in advance to confirm the appointment.

Train ride to benefit hydrocephalus research
The Colorado Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation will host a ride on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Cascade Canyon on April 13.
Tickets are $50 per person and include lunch. Proceeds will benefit children, families and research of hydrocephalus.
