Squawker Road Classic open to riders, volunteers

The 2013 Fort Lewis College Squawker Road Classic is set for this weekend, and registration is open, and volunteers are needed.

The team time trial and criterium are Saturday, and the road race is Sunday.

On Saturday, on-site registration will run from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the dirt lot behind Home Depot. The team time trial will begin at 8 a.m. for the collegiate cyclists, with USA Cycling races to begin at 9 a.m.

On-site registration will reopen from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the corner of 9th Street and 4th Avenue for the neighborhood criterium. Collegiate racing will begin at 11 a.m., with USAC racing to follow at 3:35 p.m.

On Sunday, registration for the road race is open from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Education and Business Hall parking lot on the FLC campus. Collegiate racing will begin at 8 a.m., with USAC racing set to start at 1 p.m.

The collegiate entry fee for each event is $20, or $50 if a rider signs up for all three events. The USAC entry fee is $25 per event or $65 for all three. All riders must have a USA Cycling license and BRAC membership card.

Also, volunteers are needed for between three- and four-hour shifts on both days handling registration or working as course marshals.
