Mrs. Strobel was born to Anton and Ethel (Hawkins) Paulek on July 3, 1918, in Durango. She was one of seven children. She was a member of the San Miguel Christian Fellowship Church in Redvale, the Ute Study Club and Breen Grange. Mrs. Strobel enjoyed painting, crafts and reading. She loved the outdoors, rock collecting, growing flowers, fishing and the Breen Busy Bees, her family said.

She is survived by daughters Joy Barrett of Redvale and Debbie Shetter of Montrose; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews on the Paulek side of the family.
