Olivia Gomez-Cruz finalist in pageant

Olivia Gomez-Cruz, age 6, has been chosen as a State Finalist in the National American Miss Colorado Pageant to be held June 27 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center Hotel in Denver. The pageants are held for girls ages 4 to 18, and have five different age divisions. Gomez-Cruz will participate in the 4 to 6 age division.

The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses, and air transportation to compete in the National Pageant in California. Gomez-Cruz’s activities include singing, dancing, swimming, bicycling and gymnastics. She is a first-year Girl Scout who sold more than 2,055 boxes of cookies.

She also enjoys cooking and playing with her brother, Esai, her sister, Eva Sophia, and her best friend Kylie. Gomez-Cruz’s sponsors include American Legion Unit 28 Women’s Auxiliary and Men’s Group, Durango Elks No. 507 and Denise Elliott State Farm.
