Kay Carroll

Kay Carroll died after a long battle with cancer Sunday, April 22, 2013, in Scottsdale, Ariz. She was 68. Ms. Carroll recently went to Arizona to stay with friends and was under hospice care.

She was born to John and Mary (Sheehan) Carroll on Nov. 22, 1944, in Queens, N.Y.

Ms. Carroll retired from the New York City Police Department after 22 years of service.

She moved to Bayfield in 1997, living in the Forest Lakes subdivision, where she enjoyed the mountain setting and wildlife.

“Although she considered this her home, she still had that New York accent detected in certain words,” her friends said. “Kay was known to many in the Pine River Valley as ‘their’ pet sitter. She was much in demand and known for her loving care of those in her charge. She was always a cheerful, fun person and on the go.”

Ms. Carroll is survived by her brother, John Carroll, of New York; and one niece and one nephew.

No service is planned at this time.
