Authorities are seeking a warrant for attempted homicide for a Farmington man suspected of choking his girlfriend Monday afternoon.

The altercation occurred at Days End Hotel, 2202 Main Avenue, at about 1:10 p.m. Authorities are unsure what started the fight between the woman and Bryan Hernandez, said Ray Shupe, spokesman for the Durango Police Department.

Hernandez, 35, fled the hotel on foot heading north along the Animas River Trail. Police had reports he was seen near Durango High School but were unable to locate him.

Hernandez has brown hair and hazel eyes, weighs 200 pounds and is 6 feet 1 inches tall, Shupe said.

The woman, 23, is pregnant and was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Hospital.
