Police cite driver for hitting pedestrian

16-year-old ticketed

A few additional details have been released about the accident between a pedestrian and vehicle that occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday at College Drive and East Second Avenue. However, no names have been released.

The out-of-area, 56-year-old male pedestrian received only minor injuries and was released from Mercy Regional Medical Center Saturday, said Sgt. Jeremiah Lee of the Durango Police Department.

Lee said the local 16-year-old driver was cited for careless driving causing injury. His name will not be released because he is a juvenile, Lee said.

The driver turned from Second onto College westbound, and hit the pedestrian crossing College in the crosswalk.
