Mancos artists invite all to Arts Roundup

The Great Mancos Arts Roundup will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at various studios and galleries in and around Mancos.

Artists will demonstrate how they do what they do, from jewelry to pottery to silk batik and photography.

There are nine downtown locations, galleries and workshops, with 14 artists, plus another 10 in nearby locales.

Shuttles and refreshments will be available from the check-in point at the Mancos Visitor’s Center, 103 E. Bauer at Boyle Park.

Murphey to play for school fundraiser

Michael Martin Murphey and the Rio Grande Band with Pat Flynn will play at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Rotary Park. All net proceeds will go to Mountain Middle School.

General admission tickets ($30) are available online at www.MountainMiddleSchool.org, by emailing Michelle James at mmmjames@q.com, or at the door.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the VFW hall next to the park.

Artists’ Market benefit to be held Saturday

The second annual Durango Friends of the Arts Artists’ Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Santa Rita Park.

A variety of 35 local artists will sell their artwork – paintings, sculpture, metal, photography, collage, jewelry, prints, drawings, glass, pottery, leather and fiber.

Artists will donate 25 percent of their proceeds to Durango Friends of the Arts for the Grants Fund. In 2012, DFA awarded $45,000 in grants to local organizations.

Music will be provided by the Stillwater Foundation and the Durango Barbershoppers.
