Steve McCurry’s latest exhibition, “The Importance of Elsewhere” is now on display at the Open Shutter Gallery. Included is this image taken by McCurry in 1996 of Hindus in India during the Thrissur Pooram festival. The world-famous photographer got the Open Shutter a mention in the June 17 edition of Time magazine (http://lightbox.time.com/2013/06/03/the-guide-june-2013-edition/#1). McCurry’s 1996 photo “Red Boy” accompanies the page 48 listing in Time’s “The Guide” regular feature that highlights arts-related events nationwide.
