Water rate rise puts subdivisions at risk

Thanks, city of Durango water department, for the 100 percent increase (without any notice) at the water dock. Surprise! The rates have doubled! So all of us who are hanging on by our fingernails with Lake Durango face an undue burden. One more no winter and that will be it. No more Durango West I and II, no more Shenandoah or Highlands, no Rafter J, no Trappers Crossing, no more Hesperus and a lot of others. But here you go with Twin Buttes – what is it, 900 homes? And where is the water going to come from for that?

It sure isn’t going to be Lake Nighthorse. I’m convinced that water is for Phoenix, Las Vegas or Los Angeles.
