Robert M. Miick

Robert M. Miick, a long-time resident of Durango, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at an assisted-living facility in Boulder. He was 90.

Mr. Miick was born in Oak Creek on Feb. 23, 1923. The Colorado native loved the high country. In the winter, he skied almost daily at Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort.

He moved to Durango in 1969 when his son, Rudy Miick, went to Fort Lewis College, Rudy Miick said.

Mr. Miick then owned the Blue Spruce Motel on North Main Avenue for many years. He was a regular at Hillcrest Golf Club.

Mr. Miick was preceded in death by his wife, Lunetta Miick, and daughter, Toni Miick.

Mr. Miick is survived by his son, Rudy Miick, of Boulder.

A private memorial service will be held at Molas Pass later this month.
