Yes, freedom of expression is for everyone

In response to Maurice Harrigan (“Herald need not print every letter,” Letters, Herald, July 2): Yes, anybody in America has freedom of speech and the opportunity to have a letter to the editor printed. There are general guidelines such as no profanity, but otherwise, everyone can express an opinion.

A letter being moronic is more the perspective of a reader. Another reader might find the same letter to be enlightening. Who would be in the position of choosing which letters are “suitable”? Would that not be censoring?

That is not what America is about, at least not the America I believe in.
