Human error, not lights, causes accidents

Letter-writers on the Opinion page have a habit of blaming the lights at intersections for driver error. I believe these drivers are doing something else in their cars besides driving, whether it be talking on the phone, texting, playing with the radio buttons or trying to get somewhere a few minutes faster.

Thousands of cars go through these intersections with no accidents. Maybe more people need to take a refresher driver education course to learn what blinking yellow, flashing red (the pedestrian crossing on Camino del Rio) mean.

Don’t change the lights. It’s human error, not the lights. Wake up, pay attention and just drive.
