FLC could be interesting learning place

I taught at Fort Lewis College for 30 years, and the most hopeful comment I can offer about the current mess is that it doesn’t have to be this way. From the time I began teaching, and through the presidency of Joel Jones, the college was fortunate to have administrators who encouraged innovation and supported the faculty’s efforts to create an effective curriculum. The result was a thoughtful and energetic faculty that implemented a series of innovations, which made Fort Lewis a wonderful place for teaching and learning. Students enthusiastically praised the school to each other and to their friends and family. If the administration would re-establish a healthy partnership with students and respect faculty’s leadership in curricular decisions, Fort Lewis could again be an interesting and exciting place of learning.
