Skyhawks fourth at their Shootout

Colorado Christian wins the Troy Bledsoe in California

Colorado Christian claimed the tournament, while Oklahoma Christian claimed the medalist.

Colorado Christian won the Troy Bledsoe Skyhawk Classic Club Shootout on Tuesday at the Classic Club in Palm Springs, Calif., with a 908 team total, seven strokes better than runner-up Oklahoma Christian.

Sam Johnston of Oklahoma Christian won the tournament with a 72-75-73–220, 4-over par at the par-72, 6,896-yardage Classic Club.

Andrew Kennedy of Colorado Christian followed at 5-over par, and two other Cougars followed Kennedy atop the leaderboard: Minkyu Jeon finished third at 7-over par, and Trey Payne finished fourth at 13-over par.

Johnny Ellis of Oklahoma Christian and Colin Prater of Colorado Mesa tied for fifth at 15-over par.

Prater and Colorado Mesa finished third (961), while Fort Lewis College finished fourth (976) at its “home” meet.

Lucas Laudick led the Skyhawks in a tie for 12th place with a three-day 239 at 23-over par. He was followed by Durango High School alumni Morgan Miller and Michael Thomas, who finished back-to-back in 18th and 19th place, respectively, at 27- and 29-over par.

Dillon Washburn and Josh Woodworth of FLC played as individuals and therefore didn’t count toward the Skyhawks’ final total. Washburn tied for 16th place at 25-over par, which would’ve been second on the team, and Woodworth finished 24th at 36-over par, which would’ve placed him fifth and earned the Skyhawks their final team points.

As it were, Bryan Schlichter of FLC placed 28th at 41-over par, and Clark Reidberger of FLC was disqualified in the third round of the six-team tournament.

FLC next will play the Western New Mexico Mustang Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday in Phoenix.
