A 72-year-old La Plata County man has been sentenced to five years of intensive probation supervision after pleading guilty to sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust.

A grand jury brought the charge against Robert Lee Abrams after an investigation by Dan Patterson of the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office. Abrams also must register as a sex offender. The case dates to the summer of 2012. The child was younger than 10 years old.
