I am deeply troubled by the Herald’s lack of coverage of the human tragedy unfolding from the magnitude-7.8 earthquake in Nepal.
With more than 4,000 confirmed dead at this time, untold thousands injured and hundreds of thousands left homeless, this was a disaster of appalling proportions.
Yet, the Herald chose to limit its coverage to events on Mount Everest. Further, that report was delegated to page 6A on what was otherwise a slow news day.
I am disappointed. Durango Herald readers’ concern is not confined only to Everest climbers.
