Band together to protect neighborhoods

Our neighborhoods are worth protecting from what would occur if the City Council proceeds with an increase in vacation rentals and marijuana retail stores in mixed-use areas – where there are homes and schools.

The op-ed in the July 23 Herald from the Boulevard Neighborhood Association on these matters reflects the sentiments of many of us who live in other established Durango neighborhoods, not just those who live in historic district.

It’s time for others to band together – as those who live on East Third Avenue have done – to protect their homes, families and neighborhoods from creeping commercialization.
