Boulevard group acting for community good

Twenty-five years ago, the city proposed removing median trees on the Boulevard, so that turn lanes could be installed to ease traffic flow through Durango. The Boulevard Neighborhood Association put a stop to it. That was a good move, not just for the people who live on the boulevard, but for the whole community.

Now the council is proposing pot shops in their mixed-use neighborhood. Marijuana does not belong in their neighborhood or any neighborhood. Put it at Bodo Industrial Park or where heavy commerce happens, not where kids play.

Kudos to the BNA for doing what city leadership should have done. Support them on their petition drive to keep neighborhoods places where families want to live.
