Plenty of leftovers for fall hunting licenses

Leftover and over-the-counter hunting licenses go on sale Tuesday, and there will be plenty of both available, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a recent news release.

Parks and Wildlife has about 6,000 deer, 30,000 elk, 5,000 pronghorn and 1,800 bear leftover licenses available for the fall hunting seasons. Leftovers are surplus licenses that went unsold during the limited drawing.

In addition to purchasing at a retail agent or Parks and Wildlife office, hunters may purchase licenses online without having to wait an additional day as in years past. The leftover list will update every 15 minutes once the sales process begins Tuesday.

Those buying licenses must have a current and valid photo ID, proof of residency and social security number. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1949, also must have a Hunter Education card; the card must be shown for in-person sales.
