Free entry at Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde National Park will, as all other national parks, waive its entrance fee on Monday to mark the 98th birthday of the National Park Service.

The United States was the first country in the world, in 1916, to set aside its most significant places in order that they be enjoyed by all.

Today the country has 401 national parks.

The National Park Service also works with communities to preserve local history and create recreational facilities. Visit www.nps.gov/CO to view National Park Service activities in Colorado.

Upcoming free admission to national parks will occur on National Public Lands Day on Sept. 27 and Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
