Skyhawks golf split up

Thulson tied for sixth for women’s team

After two rounds at the West Texas A&M Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite on Monday in Amarillo, Texas, the Fort Lewis College men’s golf team is in 15th place after shooting a team score of 601.

The Skyhawks shot a 301 in the first round and a 300 in the second.

FLC senior Josh Woodworth fired a 1-over 145 (72-73) to lead the Skyhawks and place him 25th in the individual standings.

Junior Lucas Laudick is in 50th after a 149 (73-76), sophomore Mitch Donley tied for 69th with a 153 (80-73), junior Dillon Washburn is tied for 74th after a 155 (76-79) and freshman Ryan Tanner rounded out the scoring squad in 83rd at 162 (84-78).

“It’s been another week, and we’re getting a little better,” FLC head coach Guy Begay said in a news release. “The guys started a little tentative but overall better than last week’s start. We are going to do everything we can to produce a better result (Tuesday).”

West Texas A&M’s Oscar Spolander leads the individual field with an 8-under 136, and Wayland Baptist leads the team scoring at 563.

The final round will begin with at shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

FLC women’s golf

Junior Jessica Thulson leads the FLC women’s golf team at the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference event of the season hosted by Colorado Christian University in Lakewood.

She shot a 78 to tie for sixth after one round.

FLC sophomore Lauren Trujillo shot a 97 to tie for 62nd, sophomore Lindsey Blythe a 100 in 65th and Myranda Crawford a 116 in 71st.

The team finished with a 391 to tie for sixth place after one round.

“The second tournament as a varsity golf team is another positive one,” Begay said in a news release. “The ladies have continued to improve their performance as a team. Jessica’s 78 has her in a solid position to get herself the first top 10 finish for the Skyhawks women’s golf program.”

CSU-Pueblo’s Leina Kim, the reigning RMAC Golfer of the Week, shot a 67 to lead by eight strokes.

Metro State leads the team race with a 311.
