Water outage planned in town on Wednesday

Don’t plan on flushing the toilet, showering or cooking Wednesday if you live on East Second Avenue or east 21st Street.

Durango’s Utilities Department will be replacing a water valve and installing a fire hydrant beginning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The work is scheduled to last until 4 p.m., according to a news release issued Monday by the city.

During the scheduled project, water will be turned off to residents on East Second Avenue between east 19th and 21st streets.

Water also will be temporarily shut off for businesses on 21st Street between East Second Avenue to West Second Avenue.

Residents and businesses in the area are advised to plan ahead for their water needs, including cooking, drinking and bathroom usage.

Call the Utilities Department at 375-4801 for more information.
