DHS aerospace team recognized

The Durango High School Aerospace Design Team was recognized Wednesday by the State Board of Education.

In a proclamation, Deputy Superintendent Keith Owen recapped the team’s many awards. The task usually pertains to creating hypothetical settlement in space.

The DHS students were able to tour aerospace laboratories at the University of Colorado/Boulder and meet DHS alumni who have gone into CU undergraduate and graduate aerospace programs.

The students also toured the Lockheed Martin facility and see the MAVEN spacecraft up close.

Daniel Garner, a DHS faculty member, guides the aerospace team.
