Ignacio School District announces December events

The Ignacio School District is hosting several events this month:

Taste of Christmas, tonight at Ignacio ELHI.

Ignacio Multicultural Committee will have a booth at the Ignacio Taste of Christmas. Food items will be sold, as well as a chance for a pass for a family of four to attend all home games at Ignacio High School sports for one year.

Parents Night Out, Saturday, Dec. 9

Ignacio Multicultural Committee is sponsoring a "Parents Night Out." Parents can go out to eat, go Christmas shopping, or just take a break from their kids, while Ignacio High School students babysit from 2 to 8p.m. Parents can bring children from two to 16 years old to the high school commons area and check them in. Children will have movies to watch on the big screen, play games in the gym and have a ticket to get a hot dog, water and popcorn. Cost is $5 per child.

Community meeting with the School Board, Dec. 14

The district will hold a community-wide meeting regarding the district's accreditation status. Because the district is back on school improvement status, parents and community are encouraged to attend and give suggestions for the Unified Improvement Plan. The meeting will be held before the regularly scheduled board meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the District Administration Board Room. For more information, call Kathy Pokorney at 563-0518.

Basketball game and silent auction, Dec. 19

Ignacio Multicultural Committee will host a silent auction to benefit Character Counts in the district. All money raised will further educational field trips to students exhibiting Character Counts pillars. A few of the items donated include a quilt, beaded jewelry, desserts, customized welcome sign, cutting boards, pottery, blown glass, book basket and much more. The Ignacio Bobcats will play Mancos High School.

Christmas break

Christmas break for Ignacio School District will be Dec. 20 through Jan. 2. School will be in session on Dec. 18 and 19.
