Bondad Hill lane is clear

CDOT has removed boulders
A Colorado Department of Transportation dozer works to clear rockfall Tuesday from a northbound lane of U.S. Highway 550 at Bondad Hill. The rockfall happened Monday afternoon. Traffic was restricted to only one lane periodically as the cleanup continued into Tuesday afternoon, when the lane reopened.

The boulder that was blocking a northbound lane on U.S. Highway 550 on Bondad Hill has been cleared, and all lanes are now open.

“We were able to keep two lanes open most of the day,” said Nancy Shanks, communications manager for Region 5 of the Colorado Department of Transportation. “There were a few times when we were moving equipment that it went down to single-lane traffic.”

The rockfall happened about 2:15 p.m. Monday. The righthand northbound lane was closed from that time until the lane was cleared at about 2:30 p.m. today.
