Blake declared commissioner

90 votes give Republican edge
Blake

La Plata County Clerk & Recorder Tiffany Parker on Friday declared Brad Blake the winner of a razor-thin election over Cynthia Roebuck for county commissioner.

“It’s a done deal,” Parker said. “It’s not going to change, and there are not going to be any more ballots.”

The result will be certified after a canvas Tuesday, Parker said.

Blake, a Republican, beat Democrat Roebuck by only 90 votes. The result was not close enough to trigger an automatic recount, Parker said.

Blake garnered 10,933 votes to Roebuck’s 10,843.

Blake will join Julie Westendorff and Gwen Lachelt, both Democrats, on the Board of County Commissioners in January.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Blake said Friday. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to help in some way.”
