Lynn Hackler, store manager at south City Market, was named top female grocer of the year by Progressive Grocer, a trade publication.

Lynn Hackler, manager of south City Market, is the top female grocer of the year, according to Progressive Grocer, a trade publication.

Hackler was honored at a Progressive Grocer gathering earlier this month in Chicago.

Kelly McGannon, spokeswoman for King Soopers City Market, said stores nominate employees for the award. Hackler was nominated in the store manager category.

The recognition program is open to employees of wholesalers, retailers and suppliers nationwide, McGannon said.

“Hackler does an excellent job,” McGannon said. “She was recognized for what she does in the community as well as in the store.”

Hackler has been with City Market for 36 years, all in La Plata County.

“I started as a courtesy clerk and bagger,” Hackler said. “Then I was a bagger, and I worked in produce for a long time.”

Hackler has worked at north and south City Markets.
