Airport expansion presentation to be held

Durango- Kip Turner, director of aviation at the Durango-La Plata County Airport, will present three options for a new terminal.

Kip Turner, director of aviation of the Durango-La Plata County Airport, will present the proposed airport expansion plans at the La Plata County Economic Development Alliance monthly investor’s meeting.

The meeting will take place at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 9 at the Plata County Fairgrounds.

The Alliance has identified air service as a key five-year goal for growing the economy. The airport contributes $300 million per year to the regional economy, it said in a news release.

Enhancing the terminal is critical for maintaining that contribution, while new flight service will help grow the economic impact of the airport to our region, the Alliance said.

At the investor meeting, Turner will explain the reasons that a new terminal is needed as well as the three options being considered.

The Alliance is soliciting member feedback and opinions as leaders of the La Plata County business community to help move this process forward.
