Missing woman found

A Durango woman who was reported missing Monday night was found and taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center after she suffered dehydration, nausea and exposure.

Jen Hargrove raised concerns among her family when she went for a drive and didn’t return home.

Hargrove’s cousin, Julie Fallwell, notified friends, family, law enforcement, and various media outlets in an effort to locate Hargrove, who is a physician at Mercy.

The ordeal ended up being an unfortunate misunderstanding.

Fallwell said, in an email, that her cousin had taken a drive to clear her head of personal matters and turned off her phone. Hargrove had taken over-the-counter medication to treat an illness and later became disoriented and sick, she said.

Attempts to reach Dan Bender, spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, for comment were unsuccessful as of 2 p.m.

Hargrove will likely to be hospitalized for several weeks to recover from the ordeal, Fallwell said.
