Marijuana board members sought

Panel decides on pot licenses
Three new board members are being sought to serve on La Plata County’s Marijuana Local Licensing Authority.

La Plata County is seeking three new members to serve on its Marijuana Local Licensing Authority.

The panel holds public hearings to decide on licenses for medical and retail marijuana stores, grow facilities and testing labs located in unincorporated areas of the county. The prior board members’ terms expired Dec. 31, 2014.

The new board will be composed of the assistant county manager, two community members and one at-large member. Its composition will be finalized at the county commissioners meeting Feb. 10, said Jan Mayer-Gawlik, administrative assistant to commissioners.

The position is not paid.
