No overnight parking Tuesday downtown

Major snow removal planned
A man drives a small snowplow across East Third Avenue on Monday. The city is asking residents not to park downtown overnight Tuesday night.

The city of Durango said cars need to be off the street Tuesday night while city crews remove snow in the downtown area.

Crews will work from the train station on Main Avenue north to 15th Street, and on side streets between Camino del Rio and the alley between East Second Avenue and East Third Avenue.

Snow removal will start at 11:30 p.m. Any vehicle left on the street after 2 a.m. will be towed at the owner’s expense, according to a city news release.

The two city parking lots on East Second Avenue also will be closed for snow removal Tuesday night.

But Transit Center parking will be open and free between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.
