Mexican Logger to hit shelves April 1

Seasonal beers near release
Ska Brewing Co. will release its popular summer season beer, Mexican Logger, on April 1.

Mexican Logger, the popular summer seasonal beer from Ska Brewing Co., will be released April 1, the brewery announced Thursday.

The lager is the Durango craft brewery’s take on light Mexican beers such as Pacifico and Corona. Ska first brewed it in 1999.

“Durango gets really hot in the summer,” Ska President Dave Thibodeau said in a news release. “With Mexican Logger we took a style of beer that we loved, threw our own spin on and one-upped it.”

Another Ska seasonal, Vernal Minthe Stout, will be released March 20. The dark ale is brewed with peppermint, spearmint, cocoa and vanilla beans.

“Spring is a great time for a more sessionable beer,” Thibodeau said. “But in Colorado you still need something to keep you warm just in case that spring snow storm hits. That is why both the Vernal Minthe Stout and Mexican Logger are perfect to be released this time of year.”

Ska will host a release party for Mexican Logger from 5 to 8 p.m. April 1 at Ska Brewing World Headquarters, 225 Girard St. in Durango, The event will feature music from the Diabolical Sound Platoon and $3 Mexican Loggers.

Mexican Logger will be available in cans and on tap.
