As a Durango resident and an advocate for improvement of the urban riverfront, I have concerns about the coexistence of the wastewater treatment facility and the well-regarded whitewater park. The need to address the issue of a failing treatment plant seems the perfect opportunity to consider other options.

I have had lengthy discussions with Mayor Sweetie Marbury about the matter, and she always emphasizes the additional costs involved in a relocation of the plant. I am totally convinced that her only concern is the financial burden which would be placed on certain demographics – elderly retired persons on fixed incomes and young families struggling to meet expenses.

To imply other motives to someone who has given so much to her community is an insult to me personally and I am sure to many others who know and respect Sweetie.
