Power back after Ticolote-area outage

Cause appeared to be lightning

La Plata Electric Association crews restored power to 729 customers in the Ticolote and Sundance Hills subdivisions area at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The repair crews had to patrol the line because there was no obvious damage, said LPEA spokeswoman Indiana Reed in a news release at about 5:30 p.m., but the circuits wouldn’t hold. The apparent cause of the outage was lightning after a strong storm cell passed through about 4:30 p.m.

The outage was in a service area fed by the Falfa Substation on the Florida Mesa.

Reed asked co-op customers to update their telephone numbers at 247-5786 to receive an efficient response when calling in an outage. LPEA also posts outage information on a regular basis to its Twitter account, @LaPlataElectric.
