La Plata County Search and Rescue volunteers practiced a helicopter mission Saturday morning over the Hermosa Creek drainage area.
The helicopter, provided by TriState CareFlight, made about six trips from the Rockwood area to Jones Creek, where the volunteers practiced extracting an injured patient, said Ron Corkish, the mission coordinator.
There were 13 volunteers who attended the training, and the helicopter made multiple trips to take nine of them up to Jones Creek, he said.
Last week, search and rescue volunteers practiced in town for this exercise, said Dan Bender, a spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.
