According to the scanner, Upper Pine Fire Protection District answered a call to a report of smoke north of Bayfield at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday.

The smoke, which appeared to be in the 5000 block of County Road 501, may have been from a controlled burn in the area.

No flames were seen.

As always, reports from the scanner have not been confirmed.
