Ska honored as eco-friendly brewery

Ska Brewing Co. was named one of 10 eco-friendly breweries by Epicure & Culture. The brewery offers 12 different beers on tap in the tasting room at its World Headquarters in Bodo Industrial Park.

Ska Brewing Co. is accustomed to winning awards for its craft-brewed beers, but now it’s being honored for something else – conducting its business in an eco-friendly manner.

Epicure & Culture: Food, Wine & Culture for the Ethical Traveler named Ska to its list of 10 of the most Sustainable Sips in the world. Noted for its 100 percent wind-powered and solar-lighting, sustainable energy in its vans, environmentally friendly aluminum cans and recycled packaging materials, the list also mentioned the offer to customers to recycle six-pack containers for beer. The publication was particularly impressed by Ska’s use of old jeans as insulation in its brewery in Bodo Industrial Park.

The other breweries on the list were Ninkasi and Deschutes in Oregon, Trinity in Colorado Springs, West Coast in New Zealand, Heritage and Hardywood Park in Virginia, Tilted Shed Ciderworks in California, Hops and Grain in Texas and Mountain Goat in Australia.
