Iron Horse Inn shooting suspect pleads guilty

Aaron Williams faces 10-30 years in prison

One of the two men arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in March at the Iron Horse Inn that killed one and injured another pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated robbery and a crime of violence in a deal with prosecutors.

Under the plea agreement, Aaron Williams, faces anywhere from 10 to 30 years in a state prison.

Sentencing is to take place in October in 6th Judicial District Judge Jeffrey Wilson’s court.

Authorities say Williams accompanied Tyree Ogsbury-Jones to the Iron Horse Inn, 5800 Main Ave., where Ogsbury-Jones shot his former roommate, Brian Keith Moore, 53, four times in a dispute over marijuana plants. Moore survived the attack.

According to police reports, Ogsbury-Jones also shot Moore’s roommate Daniel Johnson – who was not involved in the dispute – twice, killing him.

Afterward, police say Williams and Ogsbury-Jones took a tablet computer from the Iron Horse Inn. Both men were 22 at the time of their arrest on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Williams and Ogsbury-Jones are former Fort Lewis College football players.

Williams’ future cooperation with prosecutors is a condition of the plea agreement he took Thursday, which stipulates he has to testify truthfully about his and Ogsbury-Jones’ involvement in any court proceedings going forward.

Though prosecutors have also offered Ogsbury-Jones a plea agreement, the terms are not yet public.

On Thursday, Ogsbury-Jones’ public defender, John Moran, said they were not yet ready to accept or reject the prosecution’s offer because they were waiting for a doctor to assess Ogsbury-Jones on Aug. 12.

Assistant District Attorney Reid Stewart said if Ogsbury-Jones does not accept the plea agreement by the next court date, Aug. 20, the District Attorney’s Office will revoke the deal now on the table, and the case will go to trial.
