Pipe fixed on Florida Road

A waterline broke Monday afternoon in the 1800 block of Florida Road (County Road 240), near Durango’s northeast city limits. City crews had it repaired by 5 p.m. Monday.

A water main on Florida Road was fixed Monday afternoon after an earlier break that sent water shooting into the air.

The pipe broke around 8 a.m., spraying water 20 to 30 feet in the 1800 block of Florida Road (County Road 240), said Steve Salka, Durango’s utilities director.

Crews turned off water in the area to repair the iron pipe, which cracked about 5 feet along the side, he said.

Repairs were completed by 5 p.m. Monday.
