Local theater screenings are a hidden cultural gem

I just returned home from our own Animas City Theatre after seeing the National Theatre of London production of “Everyman.” I was moved to immediately share this reminder. The contemporary version of the late 15th century morality play is directed by Rufus Norris and features Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave”). As with the other National Theatre of London productions, I was transported into another reality in my front-row seat in a theater in London – reminding myself periodically that I was actually still in Durango. This is a very different experience than seeing a film.

Michelle Redding, owner of the ACT, has provided area residents and visitors a unique and much appreciated opportunity to share in high quality, metropolitan theater week after week. Most likely if you haven’t seen these productions and decide to go, you will be sorry to have missed the ones now past and look forward to more in the future. There are ongoing new productions and repeat showings of some already offered. This is truly another benefit of the cultural richness of our fine city.
