A Farmington woman thrown from vehicle in 1-car rollover

Accident occurred near Breen; she was flown to the hospital

A Farmington woman in her early 20s was ejected from the vehicle she was riding in about 12:30 a.m. Sunday near Breen and flown to San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington.

The Colorado State Patrol report listed the woman, Samantha Campbell, with serious injuries, and she was transported by helicopter to the hospital in Farmington, said Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Chris Balenti.

San Juan Regional Medical Center, citing federal law, declined to give information on Campbell on Sunday afternoon.

Balenti said alcohol was involved, and charges are pending against the driver, Mark C. Emery, 24, also of Farmington.

Balenti said Emery was taken by ambulance to Mercy Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. On Sunday afternoon, Dave Bruzzese, spokesman with Mercy, said Emery was not currently admitted.

Balenti said the single-vehicle rollover occurred on the La Plata Highway (Colorado Highway 140) about 13 miles north of the New Mexico line, near Breen.
