The city bus stop at Walmart will move from the front of the building to a spot by the garden center on April 1.
“It was really all about safety,” said Amber Blake, director of transportation and sustainability.
The new location will have a cart corral and a shelter.
The city has been working on the problem for more than two years.
“There was a bunch of work that had to be done on their end,” Blake said about Walmart’s responsibilities.
Riders can catch the bus in front of Walmart until April 1. On the first day of the move, an ambassador will be on site to help direct passengers.
Two buses will continue to service the Walmart stop every 30 minutes – at 15 and 45 minutes after the hour. For more information, call Durango Transit at 259-5438.
