Offerings include artisanal gifts and treats for holiday tables

If there are still a lot of names to check off your gift list, or you’re looking for something special for Christmas entertaining, the Durango Holiday Farmers Market will fill the bill.

Scheduled to be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Exhibit Hall at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, it will be an “Old English” market, said market manager Cody Reinheimer, with History Alive wandering the crowd in Victorian garb while vendors will also be in period costume.

“We’ll have quality artisanal goods that are locally made,” Reinheimer said, “with everything from cutting boards to quilts, cups to clothes. A lot of local farmers will be there, too, with vegetables, meats, cheeses and breads.”

Entry is free, and the market will also include face painting for children and live music. Shoppers can fuel up, because breakfast and lunch items made with locally produced ingredients will also be available.
