No-parking laws to be enforced downtown

The city of Durango warned residents that overnight parking laws would be strictly enforced early Thursday to allow for snow removal.

Since the snowstorm hit this week, Durango residents have contended with icy roads, child care crises and power outages.

Yet during the predawn hours Thursday, locals should beware a further misfortune: anyone parked downtown will almost certainly be towed.

On Wednesday morning, the city of Durango tweeted: “Tonight at midnight, work will begin removing snow from downtown.”

On Twitter, the Durango Transit Center confirmed that the stakes are high for anyone who parks downtown tonight.

It urged motorists to be smart, and thereby spare themselves the indignity and expense innate to one’s car being towed.

“With snow removal taking place downtown tonight, please remember you can park in our parking lot for free (from 5pm-7am) to avoid the downtown 2-5am no parking!” according to a tweet from @DurangoTransit.
