Co-op presents documentary on food

With October being National Co-op month, co-ops from around the country are celebrating by telling the obscure and little-known story of food co-ops in America.

Durango Natural Foods Co-op is presenting the documentary, “Food For Change,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Animas City Theatre.

“Food For Change” explores the history of the cooperative food movement and highlights moments from its origins during the Great Depression to present day. The film also takes a deeper look into the roles played by monopoly capitalist companies and locally-owned mom and pop shops.

Tickets are $3 at the door.
